What Actually Sustains Us
On honouring what once held us, recognizing what we need now, and finding steadiness in a life that continues to change.

IN THIS WEEK'S ANCHOR
THE ANCHOR
Word: Sustenance
Mantra: I can honour what once supported me while making room for what I need now.
What sustains us can change as our lives change. The routines, relationships, expectations and familiar structures that once gave us a sense of stability may no longer offer the same support, even when they still hold meaning for us.
Recognizing this doesn't mean dismissing what came before or assuming we need to rebuild everything. We can appreciate what has carried us while acknowledging that our needs are different now. Sometimes finding steadiness has less to do with holding everything in place and more to do with noticing what genuinely nourishes us in the life we're living today.
THE SHAPE OF THE WEEK
The larger currents shaping how this week may feel.
The week begins on Sunday with Venus retrograde returning to Libra, drawing our attention back to relationships, personal values and the ways we try to create harmony in our lives. After spending time in Scorpio's deeper emotional territory, Venus invites us to reconsider how we relate to others without losing sight of ourselves. We may be recognizing where compromise has become uncomfortable, or where something we once valued no longer offers the same sense of connection. Revisiting these questions doesn't necessarily mean we've made the wrong choices. Sometimes our needs have simply changed.
Early Monday brings the Full Moon in Taurus, opposite the Sun in Scorpio and forming a square to Pluto in Aquarius. This is a particularly revealing Full Moon, bringing questions of security, attachment and change into sharper focus. Taurus reminds us of our need for steadiness and tangible support, while Scorpio asks us to acknowledge what cannot remain as it was. With Pluto involved, we may become more aware of the expectations, fears or familiar patterns we've been holding on to. Rather than rushing to release something, we can begin by asking whether it's still nourishing us.
Also on Monday, the Sun squares Pluto, reinforcing the week's questions around control, vulnerability and what gives us a genuine sense of security. There may be a temptation to force clarity or regain control when something feels uncertain. But not every uncomfortable realization requires immediate action. Sometimes understanding why we've been holding on so tightly is already an important beginning.
By Friday, Mercury retrograde in Scorpio squares Mars in Leo, and conversations or unresolved frustrations may feel more pressing. We might become impatient with situations that haven't moved forward or feel compelled to explain ourselves before we've fully understood what we want to say. This is an opportunity to notice the difference between communicating something important and reacting to the discomfort of not being understood. Taking time to reconsider our words can help us express what matters without creating more tension.
The larger invitation this week is to reconsider what stability actually means to us. Something can have been important, meaningful and supportive without needing to remain unchanged forever. We can appreciate what once held us while recognizing what our lives require now. Perhaps the steadiness we're looking for isn't found in keeping everything familiar, but in learning to respond to change without losing our connection to what matters.

CURRENT SKY
Full Moon
The Moon is nearly full as we begin the week, reaching fullness in Taurus early Monday morning. With the Sun opposite in Scorpio, we're invited to consider what genuinely gives us a sense of security and what we've been holding on to simply because it's familiar. This Full Moon may illuminate the difference between the stability we imagine we should have and the support we actually need. Not everything that changes is a loss, and not everything that once sustained us needs to remain the same. Sometimes clarity begins with recognizing what is still nourishing us and what we're ready to approach differently.
AROUND THE WHEEL
Your Week Ahead
Begin with your Rising sign for how you move through and meet the world. Then read your Sun and Moon for more context—your Sun for the self you're growing into, and your Moon for what you're feeling and needing beneath the surface.
ARIES
2nd house – The Taurus Full Moon illuminates your finances, resources and the things you count on for security. With the Scorpio Sun in your eighth house, shared obligations and financial agreements may add another layer to what feels sustainable. You might be noticing where you've been working hard to maintain an arrangement that no longer reflects your priorities. Venus retrograde returning to your seventh house also invites you to look again at the balance of giving and receiving in a partnership. Before deciding what to keep or change, ask yourself which responsibilities are truly yours and which have become familiar simply because you've carried them for so long.
TAURUS
1st house – The Full Moon takes place in your sign, bringing your own needs, boundaries and changing sense of identity into view. The Scorpio Sun in your seventh house suggests that relationships may be part of what helps you recognize these things. Perhaps you've been accommodating someone else's pace while quietly outgrowing an old understanding of yourself. Venus retrograde returning to your sixth house asks whether your daily routines actually support the life you're living now. You don't have to choose between caring for others and caring for yourself, but you may need to reconsider how those forms of care are arranged.
GEMINI
12th house – Monday's Full Moon falls in your twelfth house, drawing attention to rest, solitude and everything you've been processing privately. With the Scorpio Sun in your sixth house, work and daily responsibilities may feel especially present even when you need some quiet. The question isn't necessarily whether you're doing enough; it may be whether your routines leave any space to recover from what you do. Venus retrograde moving back into your fifth house brings pleasure and creativity into the picture, too. Notice whether you still make room for experiences that nourish you without expecting them to be productive.
CANCER
11th house – The Taurus Full Moon brings friendships, community and your hopes for the future into focus. Opposite the Scorpio Sun in your fifth house, it may show you where collective responsibilities have been taking space from your own creative life or enjoyment. You might be reconsidering how much availability a friendship or group expects from you, and whether those expectations have been spoken aloud. Venus retrograde returning to your fourth house also invites reflection on home and belonging. Consider which connections make room for your actual needs and which ask you to keep playing a role that no longer fits.
LEO
10th house – Monday's Full Moon highlights your career, responsibilities and the expectations attached to the role you play in the world. You may be questioning whether the work you're doing still reflects the life you want to build. With the Scorpio Sun in your fourth house, private needs, home life and family responsibilities may also influence your decisions. Mercury retrograde there could reopen an old conversation, while Friday's square to Mars in your sign may make it difficult to be patient. Before deciding something isn't working, consider whether it's the direction itself or the weight of everything you've been carrying alongside it.
VIRGO
9th house – The Taurus Full Moon opens a wider view of your beliefs, learning and longer-term direction. A plan that once seemed clear may be meeting new information, or a recent experience may be changing how you understand something important. The Scorpio Sun in your third house keeps your attention on immediate conversations and details, making it tempting to solve each question as soon as it arises. Venus retrograde returning to your second house brings your time, money and values into the discussion. Perhaps the next step isn't to find a completely new direction but to recognize what deserves your resources now.
LIBRA
8th house – The Full Moon falls in your eighth house of shared resources, intimacy, trust and mutual obligations. You may be looking more honestly at where support flows both ways and where you've taken on more than your share. Opposite the Scorpio Sun in your second house, this can raise questions about your own resources and what helps you feel secure independently of others. With Venus retrograde returning to your sign, the review may feel deeply personal. You can care about keeping a relationship or commitment intact without continuing every arrangement exactly as it has been.
SCORPIO
7th house – The Taurus Full Moon brings your closest relationships into focus, illuminating how your needs meet those of a partner, friend or collaborator. The Sun in your first house may be helping you recognize something about yourself that is no longer easy to overlook. That doesn't mean a relationship must change dramatically, but it may need more room for honest conversation. Venus retrograde returning to your twelfth house can also bring old feelings or unspoken expectations to the surface. Try not to ask one conversation to resolve everything; understanding what's changed is already meaningful work.
SAGITTARIUS
6th house – The Full Moon shines on daily routines, work, health and the ordinary responsibilities that hold your life together. Something you've been managing through sheer effort may now be showing you its limits. With the Scorpio Sun in your twelfth house, the need for rest or private space could feel at odds with what your calendar demands. Venus retrograde returning to your eleventh house may have you reconsidering what you give to friends, groups and shared projects as well. A small adjustment to one recurring obligation could offer more real support than another ambitious plan.
CAPRICORN
5th house – The Taurus Full Moon draws attention to creativity, pleasure, affection and the experiences that make life feel rich beyond obligation. With the Scorpio Sun in your eleventh house, shared plans and future goals may be occupying so much space that enjoyment has quietly become another task to schedule. Venus retrograde returning to your tenth house can prompt a review of what success or recognition means to you. You may still care about your ambitions while wanting to change how much they ask of you. Allow yourself to value something you love without needing to prove what it accomplishes.
AQUARIUS
4th house – The Taurus Full Moon illuminates your home, family, roots and sense of belonging. You may be noticing what helps you genuinely settle and what only looks secure from the outside. With the Scorpio Sun in your tenth house, public commitments or career demands could be highlighting the difference between the life you maintain for others and the private space you need for yourself. Venus retrograde returning to your ninth house may bring an older vision of your future back for consideration. Perhaps stability is less about preserving one arrangement than about making your everyday environment feel more like home.
PISCES
3rd house – The Full Moon highlights conversations, learning and the information you move through every day. Something recently said or understood may be helping you see an old situation differently. With the Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde in your ninth house, larger questions about beliefs or future plans may be influencing how you interpret those exchanges. Friday's Mercury–Mars square could make it tempting to respond quickly, especially if you feel misunderstood. Venus retrograde returning to your eighth house also turns attention toward trust and shared expectations. You can speak honestly without needing to settle every question immediately.
EARTHLY ALLY
Holy Basil (Tulsi)
The Sacred Steadying

Tulsi, or Holy Basil, has a rich living place in Hindu and Ayurvedic traditions. In our Canon, we've been approaching it carefully as a symbol of returning to centre while life continues to shift. It belongs here as an invitation to consider what helps you feel connected to yourself, not as a promise that a plant can solve stress or uncertainty.
PRACTICE FOR THE WEEK
A Simple Full Moon Ritual
A gentle practice for pausing, noticing what has come to light, and celebrating what is ready to continue.

The Full Moon offers a moment to recognize what has come into view, whether that's something we're ready to celebrate, an expectation we've outgrown, or a need we've been overlooking. This simple ritual invites us to reflect on what has changed, acknowledge what matters, and make room for what comes next without demanding an immediate decision.
A QUESTION TO CARRY
What have I been calling stability that no longer supports me—and what small, real thing is helping me now?
